Ah... maybe you need to enable the showing of filename extensions. Do this:

In the folder, go to Tools->Folder Options->View. In there, uncheck the box next to "Hide file extensions for known file types".

  • Comments: Thanks, Paul, and I'm HaPpY!

Snow hath cometh to my home, and the flakes are dropping! Anyway, um... anybody got a topic to talk about?

<(^_^<) <(^_^)> (>^_^)> (sorry, everybody who doesn't like me "expressing myself")

Cool, I was guessing that was the problem.

Sure, although the messageboard is a better place to start a topic.

Careful, or you'll get a lecture, like I did *rolls eyes*

    -Matt

(btw, Paul, that "wall" looks amazing! I want a setup like that! =Þ)

Let me clarify that it was not me that did the lecturing. :-)

Thanks! If you want one like that, visit www.visbox.com. It's a bit pricey though. :-)

  • Comments: What program do you use for making that 3D broomsticks game? I need to learn a new, good programming language (I just know HTML, DarkBASIC and Actionscript (the one for Flash) at the moment).

It is based on a Quake3 clone (Titan) that was written in C++. In other words, I modified the source code of Titan using Visual Studio C++.

If you want to become a pro programmer, I suggest Java or Python as a good start. It will be a lot of work, but well worth it.

9 days 'til X-Mas! Mexicans, though, start in Dec. 16 and end on Feb. 6... How weird...and lucky...

Hello, Adrian! (Quote from Monk, watch it on Fri. nights on USA Network (US only?) at 10 PM (Eastern Time US)

    Ok, ok. I will... :-)

    Happy Holidays!

Paul, does the CD have the BR2 demo on it? Just curious... Curiouser and curiouser...

Right now it does not, but I should probably put that on there too.

  • Comments: Long time no post! Hello everyone!
  • Paul:I think that you should add sensoring, so that swear words have stars (for the whole word or d just half) and the new lines are replaced with the br tag.
Mabey you could change it so that it checked for swear words and if it found any it would not post your message. Another idea is that you could add HTML buttons next to submit like [New Paragraph], [New Line], [Start List], [New List Item], [End List], [Start Numbered List] and [End Numbered List].
You could capitalise submit too ;)

    Dougall,

you are right that I could add a lot of features to this guestbook. However, consider that I made this guestbook with a perl script 3 years ago and I spent about 1 hour on it. :-)

If anything, I could use some well known and feature-filled guestbook code rather than my own...

  • Comments: Paul, could you fix my html, all it needs is the /a before the font color tag, its so long since I posted, I forgot the correct syntax :(

    done.

  • Comments: Paul, when I run Broomsticks 3D a thin line is visible at the top of the broom image. This has happened for quite some time but I just never asked you about it. I've even tried editing the broom image but no matter what that line is always there. I don't think I had this problem before you added the better graphics like the hands on the broom, mountains, etc. Do you know why it is doing this?

Does anyone else have this problem?

    Daniel,

it is probably the texture mapping settings in the OpenGL code. My guess is that the bottom line is wrapping around to the top. Try editing the image and making the bottom couple of lines transparent. Also, if you run the game at a different resolution, the line may disappear.

  • Comments: Yep, making part of the bottom of the image transparent worked! Thanks!
And uh, it's nearly January and we're still on November ;-)
    Happy New Year everyone!
