Visbox’s Paul Rajlich will be attending the “VR for Public Consumption” workshop at IEEE VR 2004 in Chicago.
VisBox-X2 installed at Valparaiso
A VisBox-X2 was installed in the College of Engineering at Valparaiso University. The system features a large screen size (12’x9′) and high resolution projectors that output 1400×1050 (SXGA+) at over 5000 lumens each!

VisBox installed at University of Wisconsin
A VisBox was installed at the Phillips Lab in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The VisBox was installed to replace an ImmersaDesk, providing a much bigger and brighter display.
Supercomputing 2003
Announcement! – We will be showing a VisWall-9X in the Microsoft booth at Supercomputing 2003 in Phoenix, Arizona from November 17-20. The demo will show VRCO’s vGeo software running on an HP Itanium2 cluster and displaying on the VisWall.
Internet2 meeting
Announcement! – We will be showing a VisBox at the Ruth Lily Health Education Center in connection with the the Internet2 meeting in Indianapolis on Tuesday, October 14.

ClusterWorld 2003
Visbox’s Paul Rajlich was a speaker at ClusterWorld 2003 in San Jose. He gave a talk on “Building and Using Tiled Display Walls.”

The Northwest Indiana Times ran an article entitled “Virtual learning” about how Valparaiso is using their VisBox for undergraduate education.
REVITALISE workshop
A VisBox was shown at the REVITALISE workshop on June 23 at NCSA in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois:
“The REVITALISE program focuses on educators in rural Illinois and North Carolina with the goal of introducing technologies that will reduce teacher isolation and stimulate virtual learning.”
VisBox on display at Urbana Middle School
A VisBox was on display at Urbana Middle School from May 13 to May 24. Students participating in the VR Savvy project showed the vr worlds they had created with Shadowlight-Mirage to their classmates.

Visbox’s Paul Rajlich attended IEEE VR 2003 in Los Angeles. He participated as a session chair and a reviewer for the “Commodity Clusters for Virtual Reality” workshop at the conference.

A VisBox was installed at the College of Engineering at Valparaiso University.
VisBox Training Workshop
Visbox Inc hosted a full-day training workshop on developing applications for the VisBox. The workshop was attended by graphics programmers from Valparaiso University.
VisBox and VisWall-9X installed at UAB
A VisBox and a VisWall-9X were installed at the Enabling Technology Lab at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
VisBox on display at ISpace gallery
A VisBox will be on display at the ISpace gallery in Chicago from January 2 to January 19 as part of the exhibit titled “MAKE NO LITTLE PLANS – Designing the Chicago Lakefront in an Immersive Virtual Reality Environment”. The exhibit features architectural projects from the graduate studio of Professor Joy Monice Malnar at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Visitors are invited to experience the VisBox and sketch their ideas using ShadowLight-Mirage.
VisBox installed at VIS
A VisBox was installed at the Visualization and Interactive Spaces Lab in Indianapolis. The VIS lab is one of the Pervasive Technology Labs at Indiana University.
VisWall-20X installed at CCR
A Viswall-20X was installed at the Center for Computational Research at the University at Buffalo. The 20 projector system provides a 15.7 Megapixel display (5120×3072) on a 11’x8′ screen.

IEEE VR 2002
Visbox’s Paul Rajlich was a panelist at the Immersive Projection Technology Symposium during IEEE VR 2002. The panel was titled “The Elephants and the Ants: Will Large Projectors Be Replaced By Many Small Ones?”
BBC series
Visbox’s Paul Rajlich and his VR work were featured in part 1 of the 3 part BBC mini-series called The Virtual World. The episode aired several times during the week of March 15-21 on BBC World and was later shown on BBC Four as well.
Ars Electronica Festival
Visbox’s Paul Rajlich was a speaker at the Pixelspaces Symposium during the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, Austria. Later in the week, the Big CAVE Shootout was held. More than 100 people showed up for a chance to play CAVE QUAKE II in the Ars Electronica CAVE.
Gamespot Interview
Gamespot interviewed Visbox’s Paul Rajlich about CAVE QUAKE II and the future of VR and gaming. The interview generated more than 400,000 page views during the month, making it one of the more popular stories on the online gaming site.
